About The Artwork
Inspired by the Artist's childhood trips to her families Minnesota lake house. Swimming each year was a fun activity but always felt daunting jumping into the cold Minnesota water for the first time. The scene is reminiscent of having memories in childhood. The colors feel bright and vivid in your memory but there is a subtle hint of fuzziness around each object indicating the unrecognized elements. The artist hopes the viewer feels happy remembering their colorful past, and causes the viewer to reflect on their own memories in conjunction with the painting. The medium is mostly acrylic for the purpose of being able to layer semi translucent colors atop one another to build depth of color and add to the mixing of memories and reality we face when reflecting on our past. The style is done in a pop art manner to capture vivid colors and ideas.

The Gallery is a place for her to display her interest in texture, materials, and scale. Gallery Haven features painting, sculptural, and print works by Susan Havens-Morris.
