Following up on my previous Outlier piece that ponders existential thoughts. This painting explores our sovereignty. The art of listening to our intuition and being our authentic selves. Isn't it better to understand, than to be understood? Mixed media neo-expressionism painting with graffiti on stretched canvas measures 24 x 48 x 1.5" Painted in oils over acrylic, plus oil pastel, sand, china marker, pencil and ink, includes sgraffito. Paint drips with text, symbology and words. Spheres are made with heavy gel medium that's mixed with sand and then symbolism written inside (more sgraffito). Textured sides are painted an off-white. Light spray varnish to protect from UV rays. Signed by the artist on the Front and back Arrives ready to hang and accompanied by certificate of authenticity. Globally collected artist Deb Breton is an abstract expressionist artist living & working in Northern California, U.S. Hi, I’m Deb, In school, I was that quirky kid who was always drawing during English Literature class, or backstage painting sets for the Drama Department. At the top of my “career,” I was an artist for notable clients Nestle, Warner Brothers, and the Dali Museum. But I was not happy with the corporate hustle. So, I picked up woodturning, which eventually led me full circle back to painting. You will find me in my studio working with acrylics, oils, ink, and spray paint. My tools are oftentimes things like sponges, flowers, branches, and squeegees. I tend to break many of the rules that I was taught in art. But the hardest thing for me to learn was how to step out of my own way and let creativity flow. My art reflects my scattered mind —inspired by life, nature, the universe and sometimes even the beat of my playlist. It is extremely difficult for me to stay on script—my ADHD ensures that. Luckily, I find peace and calm in painting. Art is a reminder for us to honor our authentic selves in a world that often tries to box us in.
