About the painting: To document the streets they've walked and her late dog's favourite trees, Shizico embarked on a series of Plein air paintings in autumn, the season when Favor died. This is the view of a neighbourhood street where her late dog often walked. The colours of the turning leaves symbolise our aging. Standing hours each day painting in the chilly London autumn air kept the artist alerted to one's vulnerability, yet, within the colours of nature, one finds the energy of restoration and allowing time to contemplate the memory of their decade-long walks. Dr. Shizico Yi is a London based artist, working on installations, films and paintings; the documentary nature of her work often concerns the loss, repetition, the everyday subject and memories. With a design and film background, Yi combines her interests making installation projects which relate to artist's personal life in relation to the society and human condition at large. Shizico Yi holds a PhD in Fine Art awarded by UEL, UK and a Master in Fine Art with a BA in Womenswear from UAL, London. She is also the winner of Women Film Makers: Best Shorts Competition 2013, Los Angeles, USA.
