About The Artwork
Two syllables. Twin portraits of two beats in a bar, two words in a song, or even a question asked and an answer. This painting sees both brushstroke marks as exhaling breaths, each exhausting the paint on a sustained note, from a shout ending as a whisper, or an undertone ending in a fanfare-finale. I have been waiting and wanting to use indigo. It's a magic and natural vegetable colour, and in the studio mixing has the two element recipe; half magenta, half cyan, which for this work fitted in perfectly.
