This painting is acrylic, collage, pencil and screenprint on archival paper. It is professionally float mounted in a sleek, square-edged white frame. Dimensions include frame. Oma Rapiti (“Run rabbit, run”) is a popular song used in teaching the Maori language to New Zealand children. A light and catchy tune, the lyrics nevertheless describe a rabbit running from a hunter’s gun. Growing up in New Zealand, this song has always been with me and it typifies the manner in which our contradictory attitudes towards animals are cultivated from childhood.
