About The Artwork

My inspiration came from listening to Gustav Mahler's 3rd Symphony. In it, Mahler set a poem by Friedrich Nietzsche to music. O Man! Take heed! What says the deep midnight? "I slept, I slept—, from a deep dream have I awoken:— the world is deep, and deeper than the day has thought. Deep is its pain—, joy—deeper still than heartache. Pain says: Pass away! But all joy seeks eternity—, —seeks deep, deep eternity!"

Born 1946 in Cologne/Germany, studies of philosophy, literature and theatre studies at the University of Cologne. Publications: numerous radio plays and books about modern literature, especially on the work of Elias Canetti. Since 1997 numerous art exhibitions in in Germany, Italy, Kosovo and Norway. Many modern works of art as well as mine trace processes of decay and destruction. Nonetheless it is not the aim of the artist to absolutize these facts or the negativeness in itsself. Actually I think the point is not decay and destruction. Chaos is only the starting point. To me the sense of art lies within its ability to give us a foreshadow of something else. Art wants to show us that processes towards the negative are not the endmost. At the end stands an artwork, thus something composed artificially, but in itsself vivid, something new.
