‘Model on the WAD and in the water. With her painting series the ‘WAD’ Anke want to take you in her deepest emotions on the canvas. This inner emotion is transposed to her models and their natural surroundings. Its as of the model is connected to the soil, extracted form the mire , where she’s untroubled devoting her to the water. Her natural environs. Anke has the ability to connect her emotion with scenic experience, she uses her own pure skills to make this connection. During the art process Anke is very close with her self and let go the hectic lifestyle, daily worries and caring. This creates a world on its own on the canvas. “I can’t get any closer to myself” This translation is found in the “WAD” series, all the terrestrial, physical and emotional connection with the environs results in the splendid artwork which is imagination of pure emotions. Anke’s takes you with her in het world of the ‘WAD’ and the connection with the water * The word wad is Dutch for "mud flat" The area is typified by extensive tidal mud flats deeper tidal trenches tidal creeks and the islands that are contained within this, a region continually contested by land and sea. The landscape has been formed for a great part by storm tides in the 10th to 14th centuries, overflowing and carrying away former peat land behind the coastal dunes. The present islands are a remnant of the former coastal dunes. Towards the North Sea the islands are marked by dunes and wide sandy beaches, and towards the Wadden Sea a low, tidal coast. The impact of waves and currents carrying away sediments is slowly changing both land masses and coastlines. For example, the islands of Vlieland and Ameland have moved eastwards through the centuries, having lost land on one side and added it on the other.

‘ To capture a personality is one of the best things to do’ Painting of a splendid portrait has according Anke all to do with emotions. A technical perfect portrait without expression and emotion she considers as an empty portrait. To capture someone’s personality is what its all about “I’d like to show how a person really is and affected. To achieve this i’ll use all emotion, I always paint what I see and what I feel for the person I portray, and that always strongly intuitive. I work disengaged and loosely and I dare to experiment and thinking outside of the box without losing out of sight the power of expression. Anke Wijnia, august 1971, was born in Balk a small village in the Frisian county in the Netherlands Since her early days she was attracted to painting drawing and designs. She started as an interior designer but she rapidly moved to her greatest passion. It turned out that she had a huge natural talent. Starting with sketching she rapidly gained a lot of clients. She decided to make portraits and there all her talents where revealed. Nowadays Anke’s work can be described as omnifarious and contains sketching, portraits, models and free work. As well she’s transferring knowledge to passionate amateurs by the many art lessons and workshops she is carrying out. Her work is not unnoticed, witness the number of applications for exhibitions across Europe and the Far East. ‘ It always starts with a white canvas……’ Anke is well known for her fast trait, the use of multi layers and warm colours. Her work originates (mostly) from that substratum and she merges all the emotions and feelings. Special of hers is that the eyes really reveal the character of the person she’s painting.
