"Morenitos Crop Field, Mexico" Painting

This particular painting "Morenitos Crop Field" of the series "Messed Up Situations" was created on one of our stays in a ranch in a small town called Morenitos. It was corn season and this person, Roberto, took us hunting for good corn to take back to the house and cook for the neighbors and friends. It was a great and rewarding experience. Corn was delicious. The series is inspired on my latest trip trough Mexico. I have spent six months traveling the North and West side of Mexico and dedicated another six moths finishing this series in a beautiful town named “Comala” by the Colima Volcanos. I choose the name for the series on my first impressions I had on the people and the cities and all that it involves (its commerce galore, sales of mostly anything and also the nice smiling people that I encounter trough the trip). The glazed geometrical forms are a way to represent how the routine of an everyday life, blinds us from the magic, the colors and the incredible sometimes bizarre objects out there.
