About The Artwork
'Moorland' is an abstract expressive landscape oil painting based on the English moors. It represents the moorlands of northern England with its the rosy tones, dark purples of the heather and yellow ochre, of the bracken. The overall impression of my painting is open to interpretation, however the barren landscape to which it refers is a place for contemplation and timelessness. A variety of techniques, I have applied allow for different effects.

Born 1965,Northampton, UK. I am currently painting and drawing from my studio in an old shoe factory in my home town of Northampton. 1988 - I graduated with a BA (hons) in Fashion and Textiles with Business . My work experience as a textile designer includes London-based fashion and furnishing studios and the contemporary interiors company; Designers Guild. During my training as a textile designer, I developed my own style of painting, printing and drawing. Paint has always been my medium of choice. Oils are particularly preferential, as they enable me to create areas of surface texture or depth by layering and adding mediums for flow.
