About The Artwork
This painting had no reference other than the "feel" that I was going for. This large canvas has both emotional tones and also a quiet contemplative mood. Sometimes I see it as soothing and other times it feels turbulent. Much like the ocean which mimics our emotion. I love the range of blues and stark contrast. This is a new direction for me and one that I love. I go to the ocean each year for two months and immerse myself in the changing colors and moods. I bring this feeling home to my studio in Wisconsin and try to express it.

My name is Jodi Castagnozzi and I am an artist from Milwaukee Wisconsin working in acrylics and oil. A principle theme and passion continues to be the female figure, the ocean, and the cosmos. I have been a practicing astrologer for over 30 years as well. My figurative work elicits mystery and a narrative story that is unique to every viewer. Over the years I have finished numerous series of cafe figure, theater on the beach and strong story telling narratives. In 2016 I began moving into large semi abstract seascapes, inspired by my love of the ocean waters and my time in Florida painting each winter. From turbulent water to the vast star filled sky, I try to infuse emotional depth while maintaining hopeful light into these layered acrylics. To me they perfectly mirror all of our subtle and changing emotions in living color.
