Moment in Time Painting

Following in the footsteps of the masters like Rembrandt, Van Gogh, etc. the self-portrait has forever in the history of art been a well-known and frequent genre and theme of an artist’s self- exploration. We all possess impressions of how we looked when we were younger, then time if we are lucky sets in, moves on and our faces evolve with different lines, texture, impressions, our eyes peer out with different lights, darks and grays and greens with different expressions depending on our personal moods and life’s circumstances. This impression is not meant to be somber, but invites the observer to share along in the captured and frozen moment of time and self-reflection and NOT self-aggrandizement. The medium I chose, a marker and india ink records the fluidity and spontaneity of a captured moment, impression and expression in time.
