About The Artwork

follow on instagram for processes and studio views on @y_martynova_ The Migration series sprang out of 1st Paper Plane painting inspired by art installation The Thousand Means of escape. The fascination with dynamic geometry, symmetry and perfect visual balance was a strong enough way to inspire simply painting the artwork like a still life of that physical installation to start with. However over the years as the subject persisted to invoke inner dialogue the powerful message that was initially seeded started to sprout. Not only the paper planes became a symbol of a broken relationship reference (departure, rising to city's and busy empty communities' challenges, going blanc, aspiration to fit in at a cost of your personality etc - spoken in previous cloudy paintings ), its also evolved into current reincarnation - The Story of Two. Sort of a spin off. The way I see it is a happy end. It's the reflection on my own life where I have cocooned myself into this reality of being quite content with less people in my life and enough space to myself and my partner. There is always a strive for balance between the light and darkness in that reality (deeper sky background, light emotion that surfaces with the image of the paper plane). Care and support for each other that manifests throughout the canvas. Going places together. Becoming a wingman. Build your glorious sunset or sunrise to walk away into. Its more of a metaphor of how beautiful the world could be when its just you and me. Utopian. Removing unnecessary noise. Details. Keeping it focused. Geometry as you can see - still very much at core. But its slicker, concise, deeper, to the point Size: 48"x60" (2 cm white edge) unvarnished shipped stretched ready to go on the wall can be viewed in my art studio in Berkshire(UK) i do accept commissions with size / colour specific please enquire

Yuliya artistic talents started to forge from a really early age as she spent hours in the after school classes experimenting with media and receiving classical art training. She grew up between the leafy hills and lakes of Northern Kazakhstan and industrial Caspian coast town where she was born in 1980. In turbulent times of post Soviet collapse her future her family made a decision that law studies were more worthy to pursue so artistic development had to be posed. Yuliya was able to return to art looking for meaningful engagement after having spent 15 years in corporate world of energy and banking. Since 2015, Yuliya has been well received exhibitor with independent and gallery represented art fairs in London and nationwide. Her work is well sold on all the major online platforms and found its way to movie sets (Marvel for Doctor Strange 2016, ABC for Scandal, 2017), have been shown in members clubs, stylish London hotels and fine dining venues, acquired by interior designers for yachts, cruise liner, international resorts and held in private collections world wide. Yuliya is known for developing collections filled with elegant flow and ethereal glow. She explores idea of fragility and strength in her sky scapes, isolation at sea in dreamy sail boats coastal series, urban crowd dynamics in Connected works on paper and most recently cyclical nature of florals in her 2024 Blossom collection. With each of them focusing on delivering a dreamy side of an elemental realm, the body of works at large filled with weight free emotion effortlessly filling the viewer with light nostalgia. fall involve with me on instagram: @y_martynova_ where i show my life, my work, my beautiful house, daughter and occasionally a hiding hubby
