About The Artwork

Oil on canvas, ready to hang. Signed on the front. This artwork comes with an external frame Painted on 12 oz Cotton Canvas, Triple Primed, Gallery Wrapped Staple Free Edges. This painting is a tribute to Auguste Rodin. Inspiration came after visiting Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek in Copenhagen four years ago. The museum has a large collection of French sculptures from the 19th century and Rodin is represented by a numerous works. I have always admired Rodin's Art. I have not used Rodin's figures as a theme for my painting, just a general feel about his work. Painting is loosely based on sketches I've made of my younger son. I wanted to use limited palette to emphasise meditative quality and to come as close as possible to Rodin's deep emotional strength of his sculptures. Painted in 2018, it is completely dry and it has painted return edges and ready to hang. Recently professionally framed as a floating frame with real wood frame. Please see pictures.

Born in Croatia in 1958, Tony Belobrajdic is a Sydney based figurative artist. He started exhibiting in the late seventies and had his first solo show in 1983 in Croatia. Tony moved to New York in 1987 where he continued his art practice. He exhibits both in Sydney and Europe regularly. Acrylics, watercolours and oils have been the mediums of choice. Etchings is the latest medium being explored and studied with a great passion. His style could be described as contemporary impressionism, mostly portraits and figures. Tony's artwork demonstrates distinct freedom using spontaneous brushstrokes and vivid colours. He combines layered figuration of human forms put in abstract situations.
