About The Artwork
After doing a lot of landscapes/citysites in black and wghite I did this one with color. The work then gets much more bright colors, as I really enjoy using color again. It's always a big challenge to find places in the city with no cars and traffic lights and so on and I always enjoy painting it when I find one. Also I like o get a really good composition so that everything is really interesting. The long trunk in the front creates a good suggestion of depth

Born 31st of oct. 1963 in Amsterdam. My father, who was a painter as well, gave me my first lessons. I studied 5 years at the Ruudt Wackers Academy in Amsterdam. I've participated in group exhibitions in Jan van der Togtmuseum in Amstelveen, museum GEM in The Hague and Van Abbemuseum in Eindhoven. My work is a way of coping with life. I record the world around me constantly, either by drawing sketches or by using my camera. In my studio the images are filtered and altered and somehow made into paintings or drawings. I experimented a lot with black and white paint and I still find that very interesting. Diminishing the range of colors leads to exposing the essence of things.
