Marton Painting

Marton is another in my Reform series of urban landscape and streetscape paintings. This urban series is an expressionist take on areas in around Sydney, and in particular around the inner west. Marton is a large scale and bold statement piece. It has been painted with bold colours and strong lines. Take a closer look though and you will see that I have also redacted large parts of the areas of colour, and used very faint borders around some of those bold blocks of colour. The result is an artwork that feels still, and calm, and also one which captures the eye. You may notice elements of cubism have been used in the construction and design. The greatest challenge for me is to ensure that the colours and the composition are authentic, and have their own meaning. You won't / don't need to know the specific source that inspired Marton, but the painting will still make "sense" to you or evoke an emotion. Artists who have influenced this style and the series include Mondrian, Rothko and Diebenkorn. Marton has been painted with acrylic paints on a framed cotton canvas. It has painted sides and has been signed on the front. It has been finished off with several coats a matte varnish to protect the painting from dust and sun damage. It is ready to hang in your home or office.
