This work belongs to the series "Portraits without apparent faces" and wants to approach to manifest a fact that today exists in our mental patterns. They are those ideas or beliefs rooted in society, which attribute traits, attitudes, behaviors to each of the genders, and are part of the social imaginary. In each case, these conditionings mark a role for both men and women, thus creating situations of inequality and discrimination. I think of the gender stereotype as an irrational social inheritance to mark expectations that define each one. From childhood we are already conditioning the emerging generation to appropriate colors by gender: the boy wears blue and the girl wears pink.

Yalili Mora ( Cuba, 1972) is a visual artist based in Barcelona. She has earned a BA from the National School of Fine Arts in Havana, Cuba. She is a former member of the extinct Cuban collectives Grupo Punto and Coordenada Arte-Sur. Among her solo shows are included Portraits without Apparent Faces at the Cultural Centre Sant Agustí, Barcelona, Spain (2021) and Installations at the Ludwig Foundation (1999); as for her participation in group shows, Yalili Mora’s work has been included in Art Nostre 19, Alicante Biennial of Visual Arts, Spain (2021); Inventario: Grupo Punto 20 años at the Ludwig Foundation in Havana, Cuba (2015) and While Cuba Waits: Art from the Nineties at Track 16 Gallery, Los Angeles, USA (1999).
