About The Artwork
This interior of a cafe in the Lower East Side shouted out at me with its graphic, high contrast setting and the way the early winter light poured into the space and warmed up the interior. Each figure feels like a character in a play to me, and the outside action of the streets almost feels like a screen we are watching as a story unfolds. I'm drawn to these everyday moments because I feel that they tell the story of our lives in a specific place, in a specific time. My desire is to capture the feeling and atmosphere of an interior and bring the viewer into that time and situation.
