This piece comes from a limited series featuring smoking women exploring the juxtaposition of sexy smoking women and dangerous smoking men used in advertisements in the mid-20th century. The numbers here are actually cattle tags-- used in reference to the idea that an unpleasant woman is sometimes referred to as a "heifer".
