Lavender in Tin Can Painting

The traditional subject of flowers in a vase always gives occasion for a painter's personal style to shine through. In this case, I was drawn to the textures and suble nuances in these humble lavender bouquets propped up in a tin can. I enjoyed the reflections in the vase as opposed to the fuzzines of the small flowers. I also wanted to capture this color scheme: the muted blueish-violets int he flowers, paired with the metalic base and buttercup background. The work is an oil painting on canvas sheet, so it can be easily framed even in a standard photoframe with white mat. For more sophisticated options, choose a charchoal or greenish mat with a laquer frame.
