I have begun with a series a small works that, at first glance, may seem to be abstract but in fact they are zoomed details of haute couture dresses. The one in the picture is a detail of a lace dress from the haute couture line by Dolce & Gabbana. I am very fascinated by details of textiles, like dresses but also furnitures and others. In this case I have experimented a bit more with a different technique. Whenever I look into the details of an object, I begin to see landscapes and sometimes, like in this case, I slowly loose the pattern and find out forms which actually do not belong to the real picture. This work is very feminine.

Valentina Ferrarese is a visual artist from Venice (Italy) living and working in Berlin (Germany). She studied painting and art history at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice, as well as visual arts and curatorial practice at the Venice University of Architecture and the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam. In 2008 she completed a Master's Program of the Arts at the University of Berlin. Since then she has worked as an artist and project curator in collaboration with art and social institutions, as well as an art historian and educator for various museums in Berlin and its surroundings.
