About The Artwork
This oil depicts the pictoresque fishermen's district called 'la Pointe Courte ' in Sète, seen from 'la Plagette', another district. Between the two lies a 'grau', a natural canal enabling connection between the 'étang de Thau ' and the sea (through canals crossing Sète town centre). This oil took several months to paint, adding thin layers of nearly transparent paint on top of each other and allowing drying times in between. Sketches and watercolors, all made on location, were used as studies for this work. Because of its dimensions this oil painting doesn't require framing. For presentation the sides are painted black.It is ready to hang and sold with a certificate of authenticity. A watercolor of the same place, a study for this work' is offered with the oil.
