About The Artwork

In mathematics, density is measured by the quantity of numbers that exist between two quantities or groups on a number line. These can be grouped into different sets, which can be integers, fractions, letters, or others. For example, between 0 and 1, the quantity of numbers is infinite. Reflecting on this, I began to develop an idea: What happens with our lives? If we could compare the density of the stories of two people, just as we do with numbers, then we could count an infinite number of stories. The poet and writer Eduardo Galeano said that we are made of stories. I quote one of his texts: "The world is made of stories that allow us to turn the past into the present and also allow us to turn the distant into the near." Therefore, this exhibition is a series of stories told in a random manner. However, if the texts are associated with the artworks, it can be observed, according to some ideas of Ludwig Wittgenstein, that "we cannot think of any object outside the possibility of its connection with others." The artworks have an individual meaning, but when an element is placed, the meaning changes. In this case, that would be the text in the middle of the two artworks. According to Ludwig Wittgenstein, the sign is something fundamental in language, and in this case, the texts written in ink are used to give a different meaning to the proposed artworks based on their relationship with each other. These paintings can be interpreted as a language with a non-subjective meaning depending on how they are observed. If language is an attempt to reflect reality, the artworks are an attempt to reflect a deeper reality, the personal one. What if we can't think of ourselves without considering the relationships we have with other people? These are pieces of all the paintings that were made for the exhibition La Densidad De Lo Real, so it was the flagship work of that moment. Artwork with mat and white frame without glass. Actual size includes the frame.

Carlos Jimenez finds his greatest source of inspiration in love and life. His observation of the lives that surround him, which transmit a spark to him, is the essential driving force that moves the artist to bring each work to fruition, using pieces of memories and his heart, sometimes broken, sometimes filled with unforgettable memories. His work is personal and very passionate, reflecting his sense of the search for a truth that may or may not exist. His philosophy is pragmatic, but with esoteric and passionate points of view about the meaning of life and the destiny of each person in the world. A little referenced to Albert Camus, Jimenez accepts the absurd and embraces it. To paraphrase Frédéric Beigbeder, he says, “My problem is that I don't believe in God, but I do believe in miracles.”
