About The Artwork

This is the third oil painting from the Kigali series painted on canvas. The first painting was created from a work piece, despite its size I painted it on a painting trip in Africa. Which began in Rwanda, the capital. The first painting took a long time, over a year, I did not want him to stop. So I painted it again as a mirror. Kigali as a human mirror for its good and evil and their holocaust that were my primary catalyst.

### About the Artist: Zohar Cohen **Born:** 1969 **Profession:** Painter **Artistic Style:** Zohar Cohen creates large canvases filled with color, characterized by a unique color vibration between strokes. Using small, dense strokes, he layers colors to evoke light and mood. His work often hints at its sources through the titles of the pieces, such as the Kigali series, inspired by his time in Rwanda. **Creative Process:** Zohar begins with a pictorial idea tied to a specific geographical location, observing lines and spots that emerge directly on the canvas. While the main idea is maintained in the studio, there is a deliberate process of disconnecting from the original place, leading to the creation of something entirely new through destruction and neutralization. **Viewer Experience:** Viewers can engage with Zohar's paintings in two distinct ways: 1. Focusing on the molecular units, like observing through a microscope, to see items forming a uniform, sensual, and abstract fabric. 2. Observing from afar to experience the overall struggle and harmony within the piece. Zohar's use of harmonious coloring is meticulously calculated, weaving dots, lines, and painted stripes into a cohesive and deeply connected work of art. Over the years, Zohar has developed a series of interior paintings featuring a figure within a room. These works serve as focal points, with ripples of color bursting from outside, disrupting the interior tranquility of the painting.
