About The Artwork
All of my work is deeply meaningful to me and is created from an authentic desire to express my love of life, nature and humanity. However, certain pieces have an extended profundity and this one is particularly important. Just before waking, the painting appeared to me in a post-dream state. I found it hard to execute since my work is often very colourful, or has more elements. Reducing something to this almost-not-there composition was an act of patience. I dearly wanted to capture the painting from my unconscious mind and the result is one of quiet, powerful stillness. To allow something so simple to come from a deep place of peace within me was moving and felt like it marked a major turning point in my art journey.

My art is primarily organic abstraction, often portraying surreal and softened landscapes. A dream or nebulous quality marks both transitions and compositions. This is derived from a mode of life, which is rooted in inner stillness. I live in South West France, surrounded by tranquil forests. That quietness of being is what I strive for in my studio. I paint without distraction, so that I can fully connect with what I am creating. The more I can remove myself from the process, the better the work. I only paint in oils as they give such wonderful luminosity and I prefer large scale pieces for freedom of mind.
