About The Artwork
This tree sits above Portland, OR in the special Japanese Garden that is situated over the city. I visited in October and came across this old Japanese maple that was turning various shades of autumn as the sun came through branches and leaves coloring them brilliantly. This is a minimalist interpretation focusing just on the tree and leaves, taking out the background, to focus on the form and structure and beauty of the tree much like the formal aspects of the Japanese Garden itself.
