About The Artwork

The last message from the Mars Rover was "My battery is low and it's getting dark" A machine that was built to last for only 90 days lasted for 15 years. Something that survive harsh treatment, carry on in the light of everything and send a final farewell. I wanted to create a work that in bodies this idea of survival in the faces of all things. I took a paining and painted over and over and over the work until I achieved my final result. The viewer is able to see a some of the now hidden layers, like a window into the soul of the painting, the outer layers are more vibrant and blacklight reactive. I hand wrote 'it's getting dark' as a finally reminder This work is shipped in a box and signed on the back.
