About The Artwork
This is part of a grid painted and collage series of 20" x 20". I select the color palette and then I dye folded Japanese and household papers in bright colors in order to come up with unusual patterns. I then decide how to organize these pieces on a grid and continue with acrylic paint to combine them into a harmonious whole. I started this piece after painting "From Afar" which was in black, gray and deep blues. I felt like coming into the light using ethereal Japanese papers and pastel like colors. This painting feels more architectural to me. It is solid and delicate at the same time.
