About The Artwork

As François de La Rochefoucauld once said: ‘All the things I really like to do are either immoral or fattening.’ The French nobleman captured the very essence of the vice, its appeal, and resistance at the same time. We publicly denounce it and yet desire in secret. The “Imperfection” triptych by Kamara is about hypocrisy and powerlessness in the face of evil, violence, and obedience. The concept of vice is not new to art history. The great painters of the Late Middle Ages depicted allegorical images of drinking and debauchery, folly and vanity, sanctimony and hypocrisy. The modern era provided a different interpretation of vice as a downside of life. The art of decadence rewarded the vice more amply than virtue. The 20th century was a period of revolutions, wars, the ruin of the empires, and genocide – all forms and manifestations of ferocity. The Golden Age has never arrived, and we are back to the start, seeking answers to the question: what shall we do? Can the artists answer it with their work? Yes and no. The artists reflect our world as it is. The public may see the world and themselves and find the right answer to the question: what is wrong with us? Little lies turn into a big tragedy, indifference, dislike, hypocrisy of our own. That is the root of evil. The evil, which is transforming our world as divine love has. Kamara shows us the twisted world where a grotesque bestiary replaced people. The medieval mysteries once again appear on the paintings of the 21st century — a woman who is selling her body. She has already crossed the invisible line over the altar of lies and avarice. Her body is like a piece of meat at the butchery. Know the price! Lust makes us animals. And now another heroine already has a pigtail. The paintings repulse us, though the characters are physically attractive. What has changed our world? We will have to find the answer ourselves
