About The Artwork

IDENTITY #8 - BLUE The "Identity" series gained new airs. This time feminine airs. To accompany the work "Identity # 4 - RED", which is mostly red, I present this in blue. Following the same line that our Identity is something constructed that can vary according to the occasion and environment, the figure without a name (which is what I call "the" character "that appears without eyes in this series) may at the same time appear or fall apart . This idea, despite permeating the series, is not an absolute truth. Despite the environment being a great influencer of the so-called "outcome" of results, I believe that it is up to the individual, in a truth reserved for himself, to decide how to be and act in certain situations. The idea that the past or the situation is not decisive for the result was introduced to me from the studies of Alfred Adler, a psychoanalyst less known than others of his time, such as Freud. It was Adler who created the Psychology of Individual Development. Adlerianism, in turn, would have borrowed many of its ideas from stoicist philosophy, popularized by Seneca and also by Marcus Aurelius (of whom I have already done a work), the so-called "Philosopher Emperor" of the Roman Empire. As the viewer can see, more than just a work with a modern aspect due to the visual effects created with a spatula, what I seek with my work is also to enhance my studies on various aspects of human psychology. Of course, I prioritize what makes the most sense to me and helped me overcome several challenges throughout my life. There is still much to say about this series. Some say it is a somewhat personal series. I disagree: I believe that when I as an artist open up about what I believe to be my world view and philosophy, I end up embracing observers who until then might have been looking for some kind of direction or light, even without realizing it. Bringing the observer closer and culturally enriching my work with what I read, observe and experience is a great satisfaction. NOTE: Painting finished with final gloss varnish. ABOUT THIS SERIES The Identity series comes from an internal dialogue about the various identities we assume throughout the day - and our lives - according to the present situation. Are our masks our true self, even if for that moment only? It all started with my own identity crisis as I tried to pursue the traditional corporate career while my true self forced myself into art, which has always been present since I was a little boy. Nevertheless, the wear and tear of this double life began to have its side effects, including on my health. It was only after a terrible health problem that I began to remove the masks that had actually become a burden. But even though I am somewhat free now to follow what I have always wanted to do, does this just mean that new identities must be assumed to achieve life's goals? I guess I will have to find out with every brush stroke. This is a more serious and profound work compared to my other works, and it requires the public's own reflection to be better appreciated, since several observations can be inferred from it.
