Small colorful abstract expressionist painting built up with layers of color and texture. Small abstract painting on a birch wood panel. One thing I love about abstract painting is the ability to look deeper into things that aren't easily labeled. When I was younger, I would willingly take on labels, whether assigned to me by others, or ones that I took on for myself. Political affiliations, religious creeds, lifestyle choices, etc. As I get older, I find myself getting more resistant to taking on labels. Language isn't the only way to communicate or to explore. We don't need to be limited by it.
