About The Artwork

Greed seems to be an inherent human trait. Some of us take everything in our path, literally and figuratively speaking. Until now we have managed to live with this behaviour, but on the horizon disaster looms. My father was a bit of a hoarder, perhaps as a result of living through "the great depression", perhaps it was in his nature. What ever the reason, his hoarding caused me to look at everything before I throw it away. This worked for some time, perhaps the first half of my life when things were made to last. Now of course, things are not made to last. I see in my travels to different countries, landscapes covered in plastic and old furniture and machinery by roadsides waiting for that second owner to give it a second life. Sadly those owners seldom come along and even if they did the items are often useless for anything other than recycling. So on it goes. In summary we've lost with what renewable means and how finite our finite resources really are.

Marc Rayner Born 1959 in Wollongong, N.S.W, Australia. Currently lives and works in central Sweden. The integration of quasi architectural and natural landscapes forms the spine of my social, historical and political commentary. Neoexpressionism is my sphere of operation. It suits my temperament. The Neoexpressionist genre also accurately reflects the distorted paradigm in which we live.
