This blue hot chocolate bowl is one of my favorite every day objects and holds a lot of memories for me. My use of gold leaf was inspired by the Japanese tradition of Kintsukuroi - "to repair with gold the art of repairing pottery with gold or silver and understanding that the piece is more beautiful for having been broken"

Born in South Africa and currently living in France. I originally trained as an interior designer but changed tracks later in life when I was seduced by oil paint. I am fascinated by the emotional bonds that we have with decorative objects and interior spaces, becoming elevated when we capture these on film or art. I am self taught and work mainly in oil, influenced by the Dutch masters and contemporary Realist movement.
