'Horizons Transformed by Movable Shadows' Painting

Themes that one works on in their creative life, often keep surfacing and returning as one gets older. The theme of horizons has fascinated me for many years, and I have created compositions around this theme that have evolved in complexity, style, with variations in the applications of my forms, shapes, materials and technique. The concept of horizons has for me built in challenges and appeal for contradictions and metaphors that play with what are the individual or social borders or frontiers that each of us confronts in life and is motivated to go beyond, penetrate and breakdown. In fact what one perceives as a horizon line that may only momentarily define the external and internal geographical, social or emotional spaces of their lives. Horizons or borders can be viewed as illusions, paradoxes, that can cast shadows on our existence, but that are meant to challenged, moved, overcome and transformed so as to energize and galvanize each of us in our personal lives and quest to create more depth, visibility, purpose, value and possibility to review and renew that personal path and journey.
