About The Artwork
Inspired by the immensity of seasonal migration, this painting is part of a series energized by intentional walking in nature more than 1,200 miles/year. "Intentional walking" means being fully present in the moment - just breathing the wholeness of nature. In this way, I experience things I wouldn't normally notice. This practice cultivates a living palette ready for my brush. Biologist E.O. Wilson said, “Humanity is exalted not because we are so far above other living creatures, but because knowing them well elevates the very concept of life.” By uncovering and honoring vestigial connections with all life, we acknowledge our kinship to the natural world and begin to reconcile the ecology we have altered.
