I saw this image on Instagram and wanted to paint it. I never saw the movie that is referenced in the painting. I found it humorous. I like the shape of her smile and the watery eyes, so I really wanted to paint a full close up portrait of her face. I think it also adds another layer of irony to the piece that it's from a horror movie yet she's smiling and has a fake expression of joy.
