'Going to the Cosmos on Fridays' Painting

This composition focuses on my strong affinity for black and blue as colors that are powerful, dramatic and mysterious. For many years I drew and painted compositions that were devoted to the surface designs, shapes, images and figures in only black and white. Then I gravitated into creating compositions and forms using a palette that energized the painted surfaces with vibrant colors are in harmony or with intentional discord. Here, I am combining my earlier preoccupation with lights and darks, but transforming my composition as a collage with textured paper that is soaked in black with the planned bursts of blue and yellow. These painted forms are defined and framed by a crimson rectangular grid with overlapping surfaces of the textured paper that perhaps could be, who knows, of the surface of one of the geographical sections of a hidden, undiscovered planet in our Cosmos.
