About The Artwork

THE PAINTINGS SECTION FROM DAVIS MUSEUM The Davis Lisboa Mini-Museum of Contemporary Art in Barcelona Davis Lisboa, “Gerhard Richter #1", 2017, oil on canvas, 15,7 x 15,7 x 1.57 in (40 x 40 x 3,5 cm) What/who inspired the work? I was inspired by the Gerhard Richter's photo paintings, who works collecting photographs from family photo albums, books, magazines and newspapers. After that, he projects these images and paints them in oil on canvas in a very unfocused style. What do you hope its viewers will feel/think? I hope viewers think about this painting is just one piece of a group of oil on canvas I started to make in 2011: "The Paintings Section From Davis Museum". This section has two main genres: portraits and still lifes. The portraits are about "the artists who created their own museums": Marcel Duchamp, Robert Filliou and Marcel Broodthaers. The still lifes are about the three different artworks they created: "Boîte-en-valise", "La galerie légitime" and "Musée d'Art Moderne, Département des Aigles", respectively. In this painting I decided include the German artist Gerhard Richter, who not make part directly from "the artists who created their own museums" narrative, but because all these paintings were inspired by his style. Why did you choose the medium, the color? Oil painting is the best for 2D artist, because It is a very flexible, glossy and durable medium. Also because it allows artists a wide range of subtle tones. I only use the best materials for my paintings: linen fabrics, Blockx essence of turpentine and linseed oil and also, Old Holland oil paintings. I started this section painting in black and white, then I chose the blue colour because it is the Davis Museum brand color. The Davis Museum Blue is Pantone #647 C. -------------------------- This is the only section of the museums in which the works are for sale. Support The Davis Museum art project by buying now this painting on Saatchi Art. How will your artwork be packed for a movement?
