About The Artwork
"ForeBitthen Fruit" is a part of my series of paintings that explore the visual capacity of the female form in conveying an innately spiritual narrative. What started out as a fascination with the origin stories, the paintings communicate a personal and contemporary interpretation of Eve and the evolving female spirit. Not definitively nude nor abstract, the somewhat anatomically accurate figures were sourced from my own silhouettes. Both the repetition and gestural poses seek to communicate a visual storyline that unravels in a botanical micro-universe. The use of fruit and floral imagery speaks to themes of fertility and physicality of the female form. Each figure is a possible variation of the same woman, one that yearns for a unified female conscience with all.
