About The Artwork

I love the colours of the gemstones that the Earth makes deep in the Earths Crust over millions of years. Rubies, sapphires, emerald, aquamarine and amethyst, citrine, always dazzle me when they are seen together in a jewellers window or on my bench ( I make jewellery too ). The depth of colours are such an intoxicating inspiration. I layer the oils, sapphire dust, mineral pigments like mica, acrylics, diamond dust, and use chalk crushed from cliff falls as a basis for some of the chalk paints. I use often diamond dust, copper, pure and silver and platinum leaf as well. It is what I am well known for. . This can be shipped anywhere in the world , fully insured as I have been doing for 15 years. All artworks come with hanging metal brackets on the back . Signed and my Certificate of Authenticity.

Growing up in a isolated farming community it was fascinating to see the relationship between humans and the landscape. the toiling of the earth and the relationship between water, ice ,heat ,erosion was all around me at a very simple level. The corrosion on the metals from relentless rain on the farm or the slices of rock I found in the valleys formed this obsession with Time as a great creator and destroyer. I had to put this down on paper, the shapes and colours all around. I invented new techniques of creating the textures and layers and the landscapes I loved so much on my travels as an adult. Taking the subject of landscape painting and abstract art and turning it on its head using burning, smashing, layering with raw materials from geology itself such as sand, salt, quartz, diamond dust, gold leaf, iron.crushed precious stones to create an effect of real geological processes. Recyled papers and shredded plastic pieces I find, recycled heated glass are new ways of using our excessive planetary waste to create something beautiful.
