About The Artwork

The artist was inspired in a feral colony living in the historic old cactus garden in Balboa Park, Downtown, San Diego, California. The curious cats roam around the cactus, agave prickly pears and Protea plants. The siamese cat does not belog to the colony and was added at the end, probably thinking about his own cat. This landscape of a historic Old Cactus garden is also connected to Ezra's interest in plants, specially cactaceae. The park was developed by Kate Sessions for the 1935 California Pacific International Exposition. Kate was a botanist and landscape architect better known as the "Mother of Balboa Park. She brought many exotic plants and trees growing all around San Diego. Acrylic and ink on canvas, 48 x 60," sides are not painted. Ready to hang.

Scientist artist from Mexico City based in San Diego, California. Bejar was educated professionally in both the arts and the sciences. His art narrative is being guided by his own transformative trilogy (perception, intuition and vision) and 40 years of research. Ezra paints an alternative reality distilling color and shapes with traditional and modern (postdigital) methods. He is Currently experimenting with a highly collectible NFT art and characters inspired out of his own brain surgery His paintings are provocative, energetic and innovative. They are rich in color, geometries, textures and esthetics. Ezra’s art has reached global audiences, with his paintings being exhibited and collected in the US, Europe, Asia and Mexico. Ezra was recognized as a binational artist by the Mexican Government Ministry of Foreign Affairs (IME). Since 2010, he has participated in over thirty solo and collective exhibitions in the US and internationally. PERSONAL STATEMENT My pursuit is to leave a mark in the art world with innovative paintings, shedding light on a changing reality and the complex relationship of humans with nature, science and art. The creative process emerged by my own transformation triggered by a temporary loss of vision ten years ago. A sudden shift in my perception of reality, together with an accumulated experience of years of research in the lab and working with computers, detonated an artistic practice and a method to communicate my cosmovision. My artwork evolved from a purely physical form of painting, to working with digital art, animation, and now post-digital painting. This is an art form conceptually shaped by the internet and digital processes, but insisting on bringing materiality to it. Thoughts and ideas flow from a time scale that includes my ancestors, current events, ideas found in nature, historical documents, world travel and scientific publications. The "Alternative Reality" and "Discoveries" are two series, featured at Saatchi Art, depicting a world where art and science coalesce in multiple layers of digitally embedded physical paint and other media.
