Mikhail Vrubel is one of my favorite artists. I can spend many hours in the hall of Vrubel in the Tretyakov Gallery. This painting is created as gratitude for the painting "Daemon." Vrubel was able to realize symbolism as a harmonious aesthetic and philosophical system in the visual arts. In this case, as a creator, he could not help but be lonely, having evolved from a "hermit, alchemist, alien from another esoteric space" into a prophet. Vrubel, recognized as a representative of the revolutionary branch of Russian Art Nouveau (Art Nouveau). This was due to a combination of natural talent Vrubel and his later involvement in the artistic world of Russia in general. Already in the Vrubel sketches of the Kiev period the program of modernity was laid and there were all its signs: stylization as the main principle of the interpretation of form, the desire for synthesis, the accentuation of the role of the silhouette, the cold color scale, the symbolism of the mood. The rapid style evolution of Vrubel is due to the fact that he was not associated with either academism or with the Wanderers, and therefore he did not need efforts to overcome the doctrine. Academism was perceived by them as a starting point for their own advancement, as a set of basic professional skills. In terms of personality and artistic thinking, he was a vividly individualist, alien to him were the ideas of social justice, sobornost, Orthodox unity, nurtured by other artists of his generation. Moreover, Vrubel's loneliness was explained by a purely social environment: modernism, being a bourgeois art form, had not yet had its consumers in Russia in the 1880s. Vrubel had to wait for admirers, customers and patrons who appeared only in the middle of the 1890s.
