Deco Dreams Painting

In my creative practice, it’s hard not to be inspired by my upbringing in Miami- It's cultural richness and limitless potential, has molded my design sensibility and constantly shows itself in my color palettes. I am influenced by all the bright, bold colors of the tropical deco aesthetic that Miami offers. Miami's duality forever inspires me, shocks me, and fosters my creativity. For this specific painting, I chose to create a landscape that embodies the romantic notion of Miami as a sort of utopian paradise, it exists in its structures, its people, its culture, you just have to see it. So, this is what I chose to paint and embody through a Hockney inspired landscape. My intent was to give the viewer that sense of magic that can be found in Miami's subtle details and honor its unique aesthetic and beauty.
