About The Artwork

Lots of my emotions in this picture ... First of all - I don't paint much oil on canvas, let alone landscapes. But this and some other frames from my solo trip to Andalusia are inprinted so hard in my head, that I can still see them when I close my eyes. The trip was solo, so I spent a week alone in a large house with a patio with a swimming pool, driving through the mountains in my car, exploring empty places in the pandemic. It was this beautiful void that struck me in Comares - a small, medieval (I think) town located in the hills of Andalusia. I kept thinking - if we are not there, it would still be here. There will be the tree on that patio and that blinding Andalusian sky. Plus an exciting painting process. I don't paint much oil on canvas; but I dove into the unknown with vacancy and curiosity in my head. This is the time when neuritis hurts a lot and I can't find a place for myself, so the first stages are disturbing shots. In the last phase, my anaesthesiologist manages to set my painkillers well and the pain that I have been fighting for 3 weeks disappears - suddenly what looked like an apocalyptic end of the world has become the end of the journey, an oasis where you can breathe. Lots of emotions - a new dimension of painting for me, although I know that thousands have experienced it before me. It is something like love or the birth of a child - we know that millions of people have already experienced it, which does not change the fact that for us it is a completely unique experience. Enjoy - I hope you will find something for yourself despite the lacks in workshop.

Most of the highly celebrated art is about discovering new or commenting on current pressing matters, but my art is about simple everyday willingness to live. I paint because this gives me purpose and joy – it’s like humming nice song for a hundredth time, even thou there were many covers before; preparing favorite drink for a friend and myself, to enjoy it again in a new glass perhaps; dressing up for no occasion, just to look and feel good; caressing a lover… I wish it was the same for recipients of my art – everyday pleasure in experiencing it. Like a book that you red many times, yet you still reach for it; dish that you always order in that place that is there forever... Repeatable, often classic topics; favorite color palette; small and big things that makes us want to live, even thou world can be such an ugly place. I want my art to make it better - even for a moment, even in a tiny way. I want it to remind myself and others that it's worth to try everyday...
