About The Artwork
Having lived in the Netherlands, I was inspired by the low, flat Dutch landscape and the expansive view of the sky and the beautiful personality of the clouds as they meandered across the sky. The contrast in colors represents the distinct, powerful personality and individuality of the Dutch people and the natural world they inhabit. The formations of these cloud shapes are created against an open, almost white background as if they are also islands in the sky that are undergoing metamorphic evolution. These formations are paradoxical in their sense of occupying a fleeting moment and their sense of organic permanence.
