About The Artwork

CHAOS (A Dangerous Monkey). One of the great "assets" of the Dangerous Monkey series is to talk about chaos without resorting to visual fatigue. Or appeal to what I call "Basquiatization" (I think that already says what it is about). It is a mix of celebration of technical prowess with fine-tuning of the discourse and evolution of the ideas of the series, in addition to consolidating on screen the creative flurry that occurs in my head. But sometimes I also feel like experimenting with what it would be like if the door of the monkey cage was wide open: leaving the painting "go full bananas". In these moments I manage to put several ideas on the screen and decide which (if any) may be interesting for the next works. In the case of "CHAOS", I decided to experiment with the feelings accumulated during this pandemic, asking the public that follows me which word would best describe this period. I chose several of the answers to put in this work. As the pandemic event is something that literally involves the whole world, the flood of words and feelings takes over the work, in order to make it impossible to contain it, just like a dam that overflows. The original work ends up being "vandalized" by the voices of millions (billions?) Of dangerous monkeys. A state of visual disorder is created, never done before in this series. But there is a detail: even in the face of all this, the figure of the banana remains above this chaos. Note that it has any writing on top. In other words, ABSURDITY reigns even in the face of events, however terrible they may be. Even if the order (spots) is shaken, the bananas will still be there. If this is not a message that the dangerous monkey should pay attention to, I don't know what else it would be. Eric
