About The Artwork
Even in March, the canyons to the north west of Los Angeles are dusty and dry and, with the exception of the lush green fields, have a washed out look to them. There are muted purples and bleached ochres, and the glare seems to flatten out the features of the land. Houses in these places can seem like miracles of both engineering and imagination - built elegantly around and on top of rocky outcrops in a way that accentuates rather than offends nature. Cantilevers and glass - you can get drunk on just design in California.
