California Summer Bouquet: Oranges and Lilies in Italian Urn Still Life Painting Painting

This lovely square gouache piece is a wee ode to summer light in central California, it features a blue and white Italian urn bursting with lush sprays of greenery, tautly curled cream and white blooms and orange branches bursting with small citrus fruits and little white blossoms. Wildly open orange lilies accompany the fruit, speckled with indigo dots and boasting blue stamens, they pick up on the blue of the tumbling flowers just beneath them in the composition. The oranges and leaves lie scattered too, on the white tablecloth beneath the vase that houses the bouquet. A pink, peach and blush wall completes the tableau, contrasting the various greens in the leaves and creating a lovely harmony with the oranges of the flowers and fruit. The work is expressively painted with the velvety matte gouache holding the brushstrokes beautifully, creating a sense of movement throughout the piece. This piece is painted on a cradled board and is ready to frame or hang as is, it will ship in a box, lovingly wrapped in far too many layers of cushioning and padding and acid free paper.
