About The Artwork
I’m working along a middle path between romantic indulgence and sterile abstraction; between the grip of the past and the cult of progress. My current work explores transitions between states of being: present & past; conscious & unconscious; youth & age; vigour & weakness; innocence & experience. The paintings seek to express how matter is constantly changing into energy - how formless takes on form then returns to formlessness. I'm interested in the momentary nature of existence as everything is in the process of becoming something else as we observe it. It is a celebration of the beauty and wonder of this constant creation/destruction cycle of growth & change.
