About The Artwork
This is a portrait of myself wearing an antique silk kimono that belonged to my mother, white silk, a dragon embroidered with gold and black thread. It had been packed away in the 1940's, removed from a trunk and slipped on, still creased, but luminescent. This painting appeared on the cover of the Canadian paperback edition of Margaret Drabble's "The Gates of Ivory", McClelland and Stewart, 2001.
