About The Artwork
Everything is a question of balance. Brian never outlined the story behind this piece of work. Instead, as he often did he liked to hear what story the person viewing the art would relate. The story I attach to the work is that life is a balancing act. Whilst what has gone behind us is important as it got us to where we are and the lessons learnt along the way will prove useful in future decisions, we must keep our eyes open for the now in order to enjoy it and see and navigate what is ahead. We should not look down for any length at the perils that lay beneath, to do so would invite our own demise...What’s your story?

If you walk in the forest, after a while you don`t see the trees, you feel a sense of place. I try to create that feeling. Still learning. Thats the beauty of oil paints, no matter how much you learn, they will always remind you that you know nothing. Brian initially worked from studios in the UK, most notably from the New Forest. For 15 years the English painter Brian Lee then worked from his studio in Vienna, Austria before returning to the UK until he departed for his next adventure in March 2016.
